This weekend it was both my husband's birthday and Rosh Hashannah on the same day, so we had a combined holiday/birthday dinner party. I got to use my wedding china, silver and crystal and brightened it up for the late summer/early Fall timing with yellow sunflowers and white hydrangas. Because I knew everyone would be polite and not want to take the comfy chairs vs. the hard ones which would lead to 20 minutes of shuffling before everyone got seated, I decided to avoid the hassle and make placecards. Setting the table is my favorite part of pre-entertaining prep. Here are some pics.

How did you decide who was worthy of a comfy chair and who wasn't?!
1Well, luckily we had a generation gap. I put the parents in the comfy seats and the "kids" (us and our friends) in the hard seats.
